I’m going to have to fund my parents retirement cause they spent it all on my sister
That’s one of the many things that people on Chile are protesting for.

VIVA CHILE MIERDA!
…That is until we have to pay their medical bills.
“I don’t get it. We are paying millennials as little as possible, charging them a ton for rent, and we generated over a trillion dollars of debt they owe us. Why don’t they have any money to spend?!?!”
-How baby boomer journalists seem to think.
“Older Generation hoarding resources puts economic pressure on younger generations”
This is more divide and conquer propaganda, and they mean to make it so no one trusts anyone.
There’s literally 1000 ways to lay the situation at the door of lawless governance and monetary gluttony.
‘Adult children’
That’s some boomer clickbait CBS is trying to bait.
One thing I like about my country is that parents usually help their children until they get married , my parents paid for me and my 5 siblings for University we can never repay that and will always be grateful for that
I dunno why boomers can’t put 2 and 2 together.
Most millenials left school during the credit crunch, there were no jobs available to us as companies preferred experienced older applicants.
Any jobs that were available to us paid next to nothing. And wages stayed low after the economy lifted up cos companies realized we would continue to work for shit pay.
The days where you could be promoted several times within the same company are long gone. The only realistic way we can get a raise is to change jobs.
The jobs market has completely changed since the 70’s and 80’s.
It’s not our fault, we’re trying our best.
Meanwhile disregarding the fact that some of the parents likely are still paying off their own student loans.
/r/LeopardsAteMyFace
Guess that’ll happen when you fuck up the situation for people so badly they can’t afford to move out on their own
As a boomer myself, this disgusting illogical batshit strawmanning bullshit put out by certain people in my generation pisses me off immeasurably.
“Hey mom? Remember that time you and your entire generation embraced capitalism and drove up the cost of living so much that future generations could barely afford to live at the cost of killing the planet? “
One year at a community college cost me around 15k… that’s more than my used 2004 Tundra was for when I got it. And that’s half of what my father’s house is worth. It is just not worth my time or money at this point.
furthermore parents rely on young adults to survive the technology age. damn boomers would still be using a pager and dial up and calling 411 for info
Im GenX.
Millenials aren’t lazy at all. If I was getting paid the insultingly low wage they are now, I would not give a fuck about my job or ‘career’ either. Earning just enough to service your debt is not employment, its serfdom.
Just to make you even madder, cuz really a pitchfork and torches, bring back the unions revolution is the only thing that will stop this ……
When I started at my first warehouse job back in 1988, starting wage was $22 per hour. They start people in the warehouse where I work now (I do IT), at **17 DOLLARS PER HOUR**. It’s not that Boomers were lucky. Boomers got paid a fair wage, which compared to now seems astronomical. You don’t want to blame them for that, you want to blame the fucks that aren’t paying you the same, when you do even more work.
30 years later, these kids earn less than I did back then. It’s fucking criminal. Yall need to fight back. Unions, protests, bombings, take sick days, hurt your back, whatever it takes to get your share cuaz those fucks will never, ever give it to you without a fight.
You can’t vote them out, they aren’t politicians, and they own them anyway. :p
But but trump said that we have the most jobs ever?!?
They have loan debt because they were told everyone needs to go to college when it couldn’t be farther from the truth. Most people don’t.
“Young Adults Unable to Survive in Economy Ruined By Parents and Grandparents”
Yeah, except the article isn’t talking about helping to pay their college debt. From the article:
Half of American parents have cut back on their retirement savings to help pay their children’s bills, a Bankrate.com survey shows.
Parents are putting their kids’ car insurance, cell phone bills, credit card debt and health care costs ahead of their own needs to grow their retirement funds.
Somewhat unreasonable for parents facing a time when they will be unable to work to forego retirement savings in order to pay the bills of offspring who have much longer to work and save money.
And brutal cost of living with insane rents and impossible medical insurance rates.
Yeah…it’s a little more complicated then that, as anyone who pursued a masters or insisted on an expensive or out of state school will tell you (in the highly unlikely event you catch them in a moment of honesty, that is).
Why are colleges so expensive in America
Who would have thought that English degree wouldn’t have paid off?
We need r/fixedyourheadline tbh
Parents that allow this to happen are to blame.
TIL : Adult children is a thing…
“Adult children”
What does that even mean? Reminds me of John Mulaney: “Wow, that tall child looks TERRIBLE”
and rent, dont forget, excessively high rent
Bullshit. There’s a world of difference between your kid not quite managing to leave the nest from their own debt and crap wages, versus having adult children that constantly need your time, money, and attention because they’re completely incapable of taking care of themselves despite theoretically fit, functional humans that *could* take care of themselves.
Your 25 year old kid living with you because he can’t afford to make rent AND pay his student loans isn’t going to cost you a retirement.
Being able to pay rent, pay for an education, and pay a doctors bill should be basic human rights that don’t result in crippling debt.
I’m scared to even imagine the basic necessities that my children and there children will be forced to pay outrageous amounts.
Dear (insert name here)
Our records show your household has consumed over 33 cubic meters of oxygen per person per month. A convenience fee of $85 will be added to your monthly bill of $467.43 for home oxygen utilities
Look, I know it sucks and all, and I don’t want to downplay people’s struggles, but what exactly is your solution? Making those who made good career choices pay for it? Forgiving student debt, possibly causing a recession in the process? I’m not sure I understand the criticism either since most of it has to do with people getting degrees they don’t need or end up using. That’s not to say it’s the individual’s fault either, and I’m certainly not saying there isn’t a problem, but the solutions most people are proposing just seem to ignore basic economic principles or at least feel unfair to those who make good financial decisions.
If someone can explain the logic to me I would appreciate it, I’m not trying to call anyone dumb or anything but I am struggling to understand the reasoning. Thanks.
The threshold for “murdered” on this sub is way too God damn low. I’m blocking this garbage sub now as most this shit is neither clever nor witty. Just angsty teens on twitter.
I love that the headline is about how older people are willingly taking care of their children long passed the age that they legally or morally have to, yet the comments in here are about how older people are horrible.
Never change, reddit. Love you.
AND/OR Im having to consider helping with my parent’s retirement, instead of having kids, because they will probably have to work until they’re 80 and they don’t deserve it after a lifetime of hard work.
