Best conchas in San Antonio? ,
Hello, I just moved here a little under two months ago for school and while I like it here so far I am missing some of the food I had from home, namely conchas. I’ve tried a few here but either they’re really expensive or doesn’t really wow me. I know there’s gotta be something really good here, so I would appreciate it if y’all can recommend me some places.

Alebrije Bakery is our favorite! if you get there early enough, they are still warm. You can also special order mini Conchas by the dozen!
La Popular Bakery on Culebra, close to 1604. Their conchas are very soft and very cheap. Also get some of their chocolate chip cookies while you’re there, they’re phenomenal.
La Panderia. Any of location. Soft, very flavorful, and fresh. great conchas but I prefer the bear claw though. Beware of the price, each pan is about $3.50 to $5.
They even have a seasonal concha right now that is stuffed with a light pumpkin pie flavored cream, and it’s orange on top.
Alebrije, no doubt for conchas! ❤️
Guanajuato Bakery off of Culebra and 1604!!! I’ve lived here 16 years and my wife is from that state in Mexico and I also lived there, and I was overjoyed when the Guanajuato Bakery opened as they hands down have the best freaking conchas!! For about $1.25 a piece, much cheaper than La Panadería. Their conchas are the perfect consistency. Every Mexican I’ve shared them with immediately has fallen in love and starts buying from there. I will never buy an H‑E‑B concha again. I live 20 minutes away and once the temps drop my teenagers beg and plead with me to get them conchas from the Guanajuato Bakery!!!!
Commenting so I can come back to it later to try these recommendations too! Had to google what that was and it looks great 🙂
Panifico on the west side on 24th street. Bedoys and Mario’s Bakery

Listen to the first comment. La Panedaria is so damn good at all that they make. Nothing else comes close.
I like Los Angeles bakery n restaurant
Panaderia Jimenez on Fredericksburg and W Lynwood in the Deco District. Good stuff.
Mario’s Bakery on Castroville road. Best in town, hand down. True hand made sweet breads, doughnuts, cookies, and you can get a dozen tortillas for $3!
I recommend the White Concha and a Twist!!!
Support true local businesses.
La panderia is nice, but it’s gentrified unfortunately.
Miss Chickpea’s Bakeshop
Pan and Coffee on Stone Oak and Knights Cross has some decent ones.

These are the softest conchas I’ve ever had. The baker even made it onto the news, and the news anchors said the same thing after trying the conchas.
Comment for seeking bakeries later
Try the Mexican markets like la Michoacána,fiesta market,la moreliana
I’ve had some from a lady who used to sell at the mission open air flea market.
It was very good homemade and cheap.
4 pieces of conchas, lil pigs etc..for 1.25 a bag.
Best Mexican bread I’ve had in SA
I haven’t seen her in a while there.
Wondering what happened to her.
Hear me out. I don’t like the food at Mi Tierra’s (downtown/market street), but their molletes/pan de huevo is to die for.
I was thinking conchas like the fideo lol
Le dot, this is a good post to come and visit back
Where did you move from that had cheap and good conchas?
Myra’s Bakery in Kirby
3155 Ackerman Rd, San Antonio, TX 78219
Guanajuato bakery on culebra near 1604, has the best conchas I’ve ever had.
Im self conchas
La Concheria. They were just featured on SA Live. I get them for our potlucks at work.
Yes, where we moved from, we had the best bakery others would cone from the surrounding areas to get pan dulce. Every time we would visit family or they would go visit, they had to leave with a box of it. Now that we’re here, we haven’t found anything close to what we had there. Definitely going to try some of these places!
Alebrije!
