Hi!

I’m a Swedish journaliststudent in BA in order to write about how issues regarding women have been affected by the Milei government. For example, the right to abortion.

Is there anyone in this group, who would like to tell me their story? Or who knows someone that would like to? Could be about domestic violence, abortion, the gender gap – anything really, that affects women. I want a personal story to my commentary that gives a picture of how women's issues are handled in Argentina.

I speak some Spanish but not fluently. I read Spanish well. Feel free to send me a message. All messages are welcome and no experiences are too small. Anonymity is of course guaranteed.

Addition: I understand I might come off as biased. I am not. I just started investigating the topic, but as a journalist I'm 100% neutral. I'm just interested in the matter and how Mileis politics and views may change things for the better or the worse (depending on where you stand).

Best regards,

Alice

PS. I love your country! Amazing architecture, great restaurants, bars and cafés and such welcoming people. I'm so happy to be here and experience it.

Without any intention of being political, the government hasn’t changed much on this subject. The right to abortion still exists, and so far, they haven’t made any comments about changing it beyond what was mentioned during the campaign. At most, there have been accusations from local media claiming that the reduction of government transfers to provinces may impact their ability to enforce the law, but as far as I know, it’s just speculation.

Other than the closure of the Women’s Ministry and its programs (MenstruAR, AcompañAR, etc.), I don’t believe they have changed much regarding legislation specifically designed for women.

  2. Our former president (Alberto Fernández) declared that he abolished the patriarchy and created the Ministry of Women, to guarantee equality. One of the first measures of Milei’s government was to eliminate that ministry.

When you write your piece for your woke European audience you may want to stop there.

Please do not write that Fernández is now being prosecuted for beating his wife. Or that members of his party have been sentenced or are being prosecuted for sexual harassment. Or that the Ministry of Women did nothing when Fernández’ wife contacted them about the domestic violence she was suffering because it was just a scam to use taxpayers money to pay out salaries to friends and families of politicians.

  3. I’m a lawyer, mi english it’s not the best, but if you want some info about issues regarding women, i work with victims of domestic violence, and gender violence. If you have any cuestion about the legal instruments for the protection of women’s rights, I am more than willing to answer.

  4. What about the abortion? No law about it has changed,it’s not on the agenda and they couldn’t care less about it.

The “women ministry” was a fraud, maybe you should have asked why it didn’t work when it was open instead.

Most of the “known” femicides in the country were committed by people supporting the former government, there was a double murder a few months ago that was all over the news, they all tried to blame it to Milei government since he’s “fomenting violence”, everyone shut their mouth when it was discovered the killer was a Kirchnerist. Look up Cecilia Strzyzowski or hell even Alberto Fernández, previous president who used to regularly hit the 1st lady and is now being investigated. He gloated saying he was “ending patriarchy” and there you have him, prostitutes, sexual favours and punching his partner. Real patriarch

I’m saying all this because there’s a clear agenda on your questioning and a political message on it. Where was all of this when it was clear that the former government was not practicing what they preached?

  5. The former president used to hit his pregnant girlfriend while also claiming that he was “the first feminist”, “he will end the patriarchy” and some other bullshit like that. He was also cheating on his girlfriend with a ton of tv whores and employees. Most of these tv whores where really feminists on screen but then they were fucking an abuser with a pregnant girlfriend.

Many high level politicians (ministers, the VP, even the staff) knew about this and did nothing.

So… I guess we are better now

  6. Go to the source.

Public hospitals like the Hospital de Clinicas and many others. I would also advise against going alone to the Conurbano (that is, the poorer areas of the Province of Buenos Aires), but it should be also in the “list”. If you can, go to the Northern Provinces, again, not alone, and see how the most abandoned and desolate parts of our country fare.

Please do not ask about the alleged kidnapping of pregnant women during Covid in Formosa.
