Hi LatAm, where ‘concha’ is a bad word, can I use it when clearly referring to a sea shell? ,

In those countries, do you call 'sea shells' something other than 'conchas de mar'?

  1. Countries where concha does **not** mean vagina, people can correct me if I’m wrong:

    * Mexico

    * Cuba

    * Puerto Rico

    * DR

    * Guatemala

    * El Salvador

    * Honduras

    * Nicaragua

    * Costa Rica

    * Panama

    * Venezuela

    * Colombia

    * ~~Ecuador~~

    I don’t know if concha is a word in Portuguese, but if it is I doubt they would have the same euphemism.

  2. Because of Argentinian culture permeating through the internet and TV, younger people understand it can mean vagina, and some people joke about it; however, most people use it to refer to either a shell or someone called Concepcion.

    There is a town called La Concepción very close to the capital, and we call it La Concha. I, in fact, went to college with a few Concheños. There is even an evangelical church by the road when you get there called “La Roca de la Concha”; I find it hilarious.
