Hi. First of all, I am sorry if english posting is not allowed, but I caught myself in a little situation.
Me and my girlfriend are going to Santiago from Brazil right now (we are literally at the airport) and we had planned on cashing a few reais at the airport right before leaving so we could trade it for Pesos in Santiago.
But we ot so excited with the trip that we forgot to cash the money outside before going in the departure part of the airport. There are no ATMs here and we can't go out without losing our flight.
We do have money in credit accounts. I have about 1000 USD in a NOMAD account, but I only have the virtual card in my phone, not the physical card. I also have a NUBANK account that has enough limit for our situation. So we have money, we just don't have any Cash right now.
So I would like to know if there is any way I could cash any of my money in Santiago so we could have some physical cash to spend.
Can I cash my nubank card there?
Thank you in advance. I may not e able to answer right away because we are going in the plane in a few minutes.
If someone has a solution I would apreciate, we are kind of in a panic.
There should be ATMs at the airport in Santiago where you can use any visa/mastercard
You probably can use the virtual card in most places here in Chile, try to see if you can use it, buy something small in the airport when you arrive, if it works, you should be good to go, and probably can use it almost everywhere in Chile.
Edit: I mean like using apple pay
Nubank card is part of Mastercard. That means, ATMs should not be problem for you. https://blog.nubank.com.br/cartao-nubank-tudo-sobre/#
Cashback in a supermarket?
As long as you can use Apple Pay or Google Play, there’s no reason to be scared. Nearly every commerce in the country accepts those
Whatever you do, do NOT use the red atm by the baggage pickup area, it is known to malfunction or not give money out to foreign cards.
There are others just as soon as you exit into the main lobby.
You can send yourself money via Western Union and get it in any WU office.
Hey guys. We just landed. To those who asked, I do have a physical nubank card, but only the virtual NOMAD card.
We feel way more calm now and we will be testing the cards as soon as we can. If something goes wrong I will report back.
Btw, offtopic: what the fuck is wrong with this Taxi mafia that goes to and from the city to the airport? It costs a kidney in most companies, it is an unrealistic price.
try to cash out at the airports atms with a Mastercard, then exchange in one of the local exchange houses (near Los Leones there are tons with good prices, whole street).
