  1. As someone that doesn’t like his entire political party and ideology at all, far better than I anticipated.

He has demonstrated being a good politician when the biggest critique that the opposition had was that he was too violent and sentimental to be president. In just 8 months he was able not to only drastically reduce the inflation, but also managed to get economic surplus, a fiscal reform, a labour reform and more than 100 articles changed from different laws IIRC. All of this without significantly growing his negative image.

He did more politics in 8 months than the previous president in 4 years.

  2. People are going through a bad time financially, but it has been like that for a long time so we can’t blame him for that, and he has done a lot of promising things in a very short amount of time

In some ways Argentina feels like a drug addict that went to rehab, and now after a few months he still feels like shit but he seems to be doing a little bit better. Will he relapse? Will he improve? Who knows, but we are hoping for the best

  3. Its been a rough time, not easy for anyone, but that is better than a hyper inflation. We are at 4% right now in just a few months so I still have high hopes for the 4 year run. I’d give him an 9/10. Its just, almost, exactly what I voted for.

  4. He has made (and is still making) huge structural and macro economic changes that are going to take time to show their impact.

We kind of all knew that the first year (maybe even 2) were going to be rough. Next year is going to be interesting, though

  5. In Argentina there is a said: “En este país no te aburrís nunca” (In this country you never get bored)

Economy: an hyperinflation (Venezuela style) avoided for the time being. Inflation went from more than 20% per month to a 5-10% per month in 8 months. The economy is still in pretty bad shape, but at least there is some optimism for next year.

Foreign affairs: we went from being the “Gate for Russia in Sudamérica” as the previous government said, to start producing ammo for Ukraine. In a few provinces now non-citizens have to pay for treatments (before it was free for anyone who walked into the hospital). In some places the number of patients was reduced by half (in particular in the north, where a lot of people from Bolivia cross the border for free and I assume better treatment than in their country. This was particularly contrasting with 2 cases in the last year’s when Argentine citizens in Bolivia were refused treatment even paying and died at the hospital door)

Sport: this president doesn’t have a mustache, so we won’t win the next world cup.

Internal affairs: a LOT of corruption and stealing cases from the previous government are popping up. The ex president now is on trial for both corruption and for hitting his wife: not only he is a wife beater, but also he was fooling around with a lot of mistresses. Seems that he even kicked his ex-wife when she was pregnant, and it seems the kid is not his… well, as you can imagine, Drama. In all of this Milei said that if Alberto Fernandez (the ex president) goes to jail he can take care of his dog. Unsurprisingly all the feminist movement that was very close to the ex president not only didn’t condemned him, but came out in his defense (Note that Milei closed the ministry of Women)

For the rest: we’ll, everything still sucks, but hopefully it will get better.

  6. protests went down, now protests are not allowed to block the roads. The economy is in control, I have already seen 3 times the police catching thieves, people have hopes. (I work remotely for Germany) and my friends are starting to earn like me (the country is also getting as expensive as Germany. Unqualified workers are suffering greatly, there is no employment for unqualified workers, but in spite of free education, most people don’t attend to university

  7. I completely lost faith in this country’s economy, you either are in a good position and the recurrent crisis dont impact you as much or you are screwed no matter what ideology the president has or what they do theres an abscence of long term policies to really change things.

Even if Milei plans turn out to work as intended, it may very well take longer than 4 years to really see the results for the majority of the population, hell, even 8 years.

  8. Unfortunately, he is doing the opposite of what he said in his speeches.

    1. He is issuing money, has issued a monetary base (printing, issuing bonds, passes, and “bopreales”).

     2. He has increased all taxes and created new ones, including a CO2 tax on fuels.

    3. He has used federal reserves to intervene in the exchange market, thus arbitrarily setting a price for the dollar.

    4. He has regulated crypto exchanges.

     5. He has lowered inflation but has increased the prices of electricity, gas, etc.

He is a politician with a lot of charisma, that’s why he has many blindly devoted fans. But he is just another politician taking socialist measures.

Ps: Inflation has decreased because consumption has decreased, the industry is at a standstill.

  9. Terrible. Poverty increases, extreme poverty is about 20 percent. Public transport goes up, bills go up, salaries are stagnated, unemployment goes up, benefits for the rich go up, expending in education and health go down, privatizations are in progress. It’s a time bomb. His only hope is to get another loan or to get money from privatizations of national companies and resources, but that would only buy him time. This sub is heavily biased towards milei and it’s filled with paid trolls

  10. Well this is a pretty biased place to ask about Milei, everyone loves him blindly on this sub. He seems to be taming inflation but to achieve this he totally crashed the economy. If the country starts growing again with just a bit less inflation, he might have some chances to finish his mandate. Wish him luck, he most definitely needs it. Didn’t vote him and would never do, but honestly hope his party does well, as the former kirchnerists really fucked us up with inflation. The most regressive tax ever.

  11. Lowest meat & milk consumption in 110 years in argentinian history. Poverty reached 70%. Prices quadrupled at first and now people celebrate that inflation slowed down when their salaries ended up way below them. 3rd time liberalism is implemented in modern argentine history, 3rd time it results in the 5% getting richer and the 95% getting poorer. Never works.
